The October 2023 Guide To Ohio Poker Tournaments

A summer full of enthralling Ohio poker tournaments is coming to a close, and things are settling down.

But there’s still plenty of Hold ‘Em and Omaha action from Cleveland to Cincinnati, with daily tournaments and special promotions at Ohio poker rooms.

More big tournaments are on the horizon as well. Here’s a look at all the Ohio poker offerings in October.

(Although online poker in Ohio is legal at sweepstakes sites, this story will focus on live poker tournaments.)

Hard Rock Cincinnati

A $400 no-limit hold ’em tournament with a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool highlights the October schedule at the Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati. Cards get in the air at 11:15 a.m. with 40-minute levels.

There are also daily $100 buy-in tournaments running Monday-Friday at 10:15 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. Select days offer prize pool guarantees of up to $10,000.

Saturdays and Sundays have $200 buy-in tournaments, with $10,000 guarantees on Sundays. Saturday morning tournaments start at 11:15 a.m. and the same tournament

Noteworthy dates in October include:

Oct 7: $400 NLH – 11:15 a.m. – $50,000 guarantee
Oct. 13: $200 NLH – 6:15 p.m. – $10,000 guarantee with a $100 Black Chip Bounty

Hard Rock’s monthly senior tournament takes place on Oct. 16 with a $300 buy-in and a $25,000 guaranteed prize pool.

The Cincinnati stop of the Moneymaker Poker Tour just wrapped up, with the tour’s namesake, Chris Moneymaker, making the final table. However, Joseph Bakun took the win heads up against Ian Richardson.

JACK Poker Weekend is underway at JACK Casino Cleveland and continues through Oct. 9. The remaining schedule is as follows:

Friday, Oct. 6: $600 NLH Main Event – 12:15 p.m. – $150,000 guarantee; Day 1B
Saturday, Oct. 7: $600 NLH Main Event – 12:15 p.m. – $150,000 guarantee; Day 1C
Sunday, Oct. 8: $600 NLH Main Event – 12:15 p.m. – $150,000 guarantee; Day 2

Another exciting event, the RunGood Poker Series, will stop in Cleveland next month. There are qualifiers to those events on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays this month at JACK. These satellites guarantee two seats to the main event.

Hollywood Casino Columbus

With no upcoming special events on the calendar, Hollywood Casino Columbus offers the usual daily tournaments. The daily schedule features Turbo Tournaments Monday through Friday with $60 buy-ins and $1,000 in prizes starting at 12:15 p.m.

Hollywood’s Monthly Mega tournament with a $30,000 guaranteed prize pool is held every third Sunday of the month. Thus, cards are in the air this month on Oct. 15. The buy-in is $300 for this $30,000 prize pool event. Start time is 12:15 p.m.

Weekly tournaments continue, including:

Mondays: $100 Green Chip Bounty – 7:15 p.m. – $4,000 guarantee
Wednesdays: $200 Top Tier – 7:15 p.m. – $10,000 guarantee ($4,000 guaranteed for first place)

Hollywood Toledo

Hollywood Casino Toledo is celebrating Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 9, with even larger high-hand jackpots than usual and splash pots every hour.

Every 30 minutes, $200 high hands will be awarded from 5-11 p.m. Hourly splash pots run from 1-7 p.m., adding $100 to the pot at random tables.
