Hollywood Casino Toledo

The casino at Hollywood Casino Toledo

Hollywood Casino Toledo is located minutes from downtown Toledo, just off I-75, on the south bank of the Maumee River. It’s one of four Hollywood-branded properties in the Buckeye State. The other three are the land-based casino in Columbus, and racinos Youngstown and Dayton.

The spacious 125,000-square-foot casino floor is home to more than 2,000 slots, plus dozens of table games and a poker room. Behind the Hollywood property in Columbus, it is the state’s second-largest casino of the four. The casino does not allow smoking inside, although there are two exterior smoking patios with slot machines.

New and returning visitors can partake in the mychoice rewards program. It utilizes a standard point-based system, where you can earn benefits based on your gambling activity. Depending on your loyalty tier, you can receive cash prizes, tickets for exclusive events, hotel discounts, and more.

Slots machines & video poker

Unsurprisingly, Hollywood Casino Toledo devotes most of its real estate to slot machines. The rich selection includes old school three-reelers, modern video slots, progressives — you name it.

Betting limits are quite accommodating, as the machines come in a variety of coin denominations, ranging from nickel versions to high-stakes variants such as $1, $5, $10, $25, and $100 machines.

You’ll also be able to try 30-plus video poker games, including multi-game platforms like Hot Roll Poker, All Star Poker II, Double Big Poker, and Ultimate X Poker. Each of these consoles houses spin-offs like Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild, among others.

Here’s a brief rundown of some of the most popular slots at Hollywood Casino Toledo:

• Buffalo Grand: An Aristocrat title, Buffalo Grand is a penny slot that utilizes a 1,024-ways-to-win payout mechanism and an array of bonus features — most notably wilds, scatters, and multipliers. Buffalo Grand also houses five progressive jackpots, which you can trigger via the bonus wheel.
• Cleopatra: This slot has been a mainstay at nearly every land-based casino in the country since its release in 2002. The legendary IGT creation is set across a five-by-four grid with 15 paylines. The game features a bonus round and a maximum payout of $2 million. You can get started for as little as $0.25 per spin, which makes it a great option for recreational players.
• Triple Diamond: Yet another IGT gem, Triple Diamond is one of the high stakes slots you’ll find at Hollywood Toledo. This Vegas-style classic features three reels and nine paylines, making for straightforward gameplay. Across the reels, you’ll stumble upon familiar symbols in the shape of bars, 7s, and diamonds. It’s a medium-volatility game, so the returns can be solid.

Other honorable mentions include Wheel of Fortune, Tarzan, Wild Red, Lightning Link, Star Bar, Dancing Drum, and Monopoly Money.

Table games

While slots are the most numerous offerings at Hollywood Toledo, the casino’s table game selection is versatile, as well. There are dozens of games, including varieties of poker, blackjack, roulette, and baccarat. Here are a few of the Hollywood Casino Toledo table games available:

• Buster Blackjack

You’ll also find a few variations with optional side bets, which provide boosted payouts for certain hands/rolls/spins. For example, Bonus Craps offers a set of three additional proposition wagers, which can pay as much as 150:1.

There are also a few blackjack tables with the TriLux side bet, which takes into account your initial two cards and the dealer’s first card — if they combine to form a premium hand (straight flush or better), the player wins an 8:1 additional payout.

Hollywood Casino Toledo poker room

What’s more, the casino sets up mixed games upon request for those with a slightly more exotic taste. The casino also runs a bad beat jackpot, which can grow in excess of $100,000 from time to time.

Mychoice rewards program

Along with other Penn National Gaming venues, Hollywood Casino Toledo takes part in a rewards program called mychoice. The system uses a tiered structure, whereby players earn an increasing number of benefits as they level up in the hierarchy. The point accumulation rate varies between games:

• $5 wagered on slot machines = 1 point
• $10 wagered on video poker = 1 point
• $40 wagered on table games = 1 point

Once you accrue a sufficient number of points, you can redeem them for perks. The perks include bonus slot play, guaranteed seats at affiliated restaurants, entries to prize draws and exclusive events, discounts on accommodations and dining, and more.

Does Hollywood Casino Toledo operate a sportsbook?

Yes, sports betting in Ohio is finally legal and Hollywood Toledo operates an in-person sportsbook at the building.

Hollywood Casino Toledo was a natural choice to be one of the retail sportsbook locations in Ohio, so it was no surprise that the casino was quick to join the party. In fact, it is likely to serve as a hub for Penn National’s sports betting operations in Ohio and act as home base for Barstool Sportsbook, Penn’s online sportsbook brand.

Hollywood Casino Toledo history and ownership

In 2009, Ohio voters passed a casino initiative to amend the state constitution and permit a single casino in the cities of Toledo, Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati. This ended a two-decade effort to bring legalized gambling to the state. The 2009 initiative was sponsored and promoted by a partnership between Dan Gilbert (the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers) and Penn National Gaming.

Hollywood Casino Toledo was one of the first Ohio casinos to debut. Construction began in August 2010, and the casino officially opened its doors on May 29, 2012.
