Two Barstool Sportsbook retail locations are slated to open this week, just in time for Super Bowl LVII.

The new Barstool Sportsbook at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course in Austintown (just outside of Youngstown) is slated to open Friday, Feb. 10.

Meanwhile, Hollywood Casino Columbus’ Barstool Sportsbook space will open Saturday, Feb. 11.

Sports betting in Ohio kicked off on Jan. 1, but the Barstool lounge/bar/restaurant spaces have been under construction. Patrons at the Hollywood-branded facilities have been able to engage in sports betting by using betting windows and kiosks at each location, in addition to the Barstool Sportsbook Ohio app.

Barstool spaces in Columbus, Mahoning Valley opening soon

Hollywood Casino Columbus is hosting a grand opening celebration for its new Barstool Sportsbook on Feb. 11 beginning at noon.

Hollywood Casino Columbus’ Barstool Sportsbook includes a full-service bar and restaurant, VIP seating and two jumbo TV walls, as well as seven betting windows and more than 30 betting kiosks. The sportsbook will be open daily 10 a.m.-midnight.

Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course announced via social media that its Barstool Sportsbook will be opening Feb. 10.

From the photos shared, the space appears to be similar to Columbus’ Barstool Sportsbook. Hollywood Gaming Mahoning Valley’s social media has been sharing Barstool menu offerings like the Boss Hog Burger and the Big A$$ Cookie dessert.

Hollywood Mahoning Valley closed its Skybox Sports Bar on Feb. 2, with Barstool Sportsbook replacing it among the racino’s dining options.

The Barstool Sportsbook at Hollywood Gaming Mahoning Valley will be open Monday-Thursday noon-9 p.m.; Friday-Saturday noon-11 p.m.; and Sunday 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

Hollywood Toledo Casino, Hollywood Dayton to follow

Hollywood’s parent company, PENN Entertainment, also owns Hollywood Casino Toledo and Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.

Both locations are licensed to add Barstool Sportsbooks. Hollywood Dayton told PlayOhio that construction on its new sportsbook will wrap up sometime during the first quarter of 2023. The new venue will include a restaurant, full-service bar and a 34-foot screen above the bar.

Hollywood Toledo has not yet released an opening date for its sportsbook, but it did announce on Jan. 26 that it had paid out $1 million in sports bets since the Jan. 1 launch.

PlayOhio reached out to Hollywood Casino Toledo for more info on when its new Barstool Sportsbook area will be opening. We will update this story with a response.

Hollywood properties offering Super Bowl, Barstool promos

Ohio’s Hollywood-branded gaming properties have several promotional offers related to the Super Bowl (or, as they like to call it, for legal reasons, “the Big Game”) and to Barstool Sportsbook. Here’s a sampling:

  • At Hollywood Casino Toledo, members of Hollywood’s mychoice loyalty club (membership is free) can swipe their cards at a promotional kiosk on the premises Feb. 9 and pick who they think will win the Super Bowl. Everyone who picks the winner correctly can claim their “mystery mycash prize” on Feb. 15 at a promotional kiosk.
  • Also at Hollywood Casino Toledo, Barstool Sportsbook will host the final drawings of its Second Chance Parlay” promotion. Since January, patrons have been putting their losing parlay bet slips into a drawing drum. On Fridays, five winners are selected to receive $200 in slot or table games play. On Feb. 12, two names will be selected from the drawing drum every half hour between 3-5:30 p.m., with winners receiving $250 in slots or table games play. Then, at 6 p.m., two more drawings will determine the winners of grand prize packages, each worth more than $6,000.
  • On Feb. 12, Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway will be conducting “Sack Attack Sunday Drawings” during the Super Bowl. The racino will be choosing winners from a drawing drum during the game for each field goal, touchdown or safety scored, giving away thousands of dollars of gaming “bonus play.” Participation is open to all members of Hollywood’s mychoice loyalty club. Patrons can begin depositing entries at 5 p.m. Feb. 12.
  • The Barstool Sportsbook at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway also holds “Second Chance Drawings” every Wednesday. Patrons (who must be mychoice members) place their losing sports bet slips in a drawing drum and then each Wednesday five winners are selected. Winners each earn $100 in slots play.
  • Hollywood Gaming Mahoning Valley is presenting its “Bet the Big Game Sweepstakes” promotion in the lead up to the Super Bowl. Since Jan. 1, mychoice members could earn one entry for every two tier point earned through play. On Feb. 11, 10 winners will be selected every hour between 6-9 p.m. The winners select an envelope from the game board. Each envelope includes a different Barstool Sportsbook betting ticket related to the Super Bowl. The winners receive any winnings associated with that bet, as well as $250 in slots play.

PENN Entertainment sees growth via Barstool

In August of 2022, PENN Entertainment moved forward on a $387 million deal to take over full ownership of Barstool Sports, which includes that company’s media entities as well as all of its retail and online sportsbook operations.

PENN Entertainment is also the parent company of the four Hollywood-branded properties in Ohio. Other PENN Entertainment properties include the L’Auberge hotel/casinos, as well as the Toronto-based theScore Bet Sportsbook and theScore sports media company.

PENN Entertainment operates 31 retail sportsbooks in 14 states.

PENN recently released its fourth quarter earnings report for 2022. In the report, PENN said it had $1.6 billion in revenue across all of its companies for a year-over-year increase of 0.8%.

In the Q4 earnings report call, PENN CEO Jay Snowden credited the profitable quarter to PENN’s interactive segment. Snowden also mentioned Ohio’s sports betting launch as a reason to be hopeful for a strong Q1 report for 2023.

“Following our successful playbook in Kansas and Maryland, our omni-channel marketing approach in Ohio led to one of our strongest launches to date of our Barstool Sportsbook,” Snowden said. “Our deep customer database, retail footprint, and powerful Barstool Sports marketing engine contributed to a record number of first-time depositors at launch this January despite minimal external marketing expense.”
