If you’re looking for what seems like a pretty safe bet to make your first legal sports bet in Ohio, DraftKings may have just the deal for you.

Ohio sports betting goes live on Jan. 1, 2023. For Ohio’s first day of statewide sports betting, DraftKings is offering an odds boost on a bet that the Cleveland Browns will score over 0.5 points against the Washington Commanders on New Year’s Day.

If you have faith that the Browns will score at least one point, DraftKings has made things simple. DraftKings has set the odds at +100, so you can double however much you bet.

Browns score just one point, DraftKings will double your bet up to $50

Ohio bettors can get the odds boost by opting in through a verified DraftKings Sportsbook Ohio account before kickoff.

After opting in, the bettor receives a single-use odds boost. You must select the boost in your betslip before placing the bet to apply the boosted price.

The maximum bet is $50, while the minimum is $5. If the Browns score at all during the game, you double the money wagered.

The offer excludes bonus bets, live bets, parlays, profit boosts, cash-out bets and voided bets. It is only good for sports betting in Ohio

The Browns haven’t been shut out all season

The Browns haven’t given fans many reasons to celebrate the past couple of seasons. The team went 11-5 in the 2020 season and made the playoffs. However, the Browns have had losing seasons the past two years.

Fans had higher hopes for the 2022 season after the Browns signed quarterback Deshaun Watson to a five-year, $230 million contract. But Watson was hit with an 11-game suspension as a result of several sexual misconduct allegations.

Watson returned in December, and the Browns have gone 2-2 since. With the team’s 17-10 loss to the Saints on Christmas Eve, the Browns were eliminated from playoff contention. Cleveland currently holds a 6-9 record and is in last place in the AFC North.

But the good news is that the Browns haven’t been shut out in a game in eight years. The team’s last shutout came at the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals in a December home game during the 2014 season. Incidentally, that 30-0 drubbing was Johnny Manziel’s first game starting at quarterback.

On the other side of the ball, the Washington Commanders have not only not shut out an opponent this season, they haven’t shut out another team since 1991. That year, Washington shut out three opponents and ended the season as Super Bowl champs.
