DraftKings Sportsbook is on its way to Ohio after receiving approval from the Ohio Casino Control Commission on Nov. 2.
The license clears the way for the DraftKings Sportsbook betting app to launch on Jan. 1, 2023, when sports betting in Ohio kicks off.

DraftKings offers pre-launch promo offers ahead of Ohio launch
As Ohio heads toward the Jan. 1 sports betting rollout, pre-launch offers have been plentiful.
DraftKings Sportsbook Ohio is in the mix with its recently announced $200 pre-launch promotion. New DraftKings users will receive $200 in bonus bets, with no deposit required. New users will also be entered into a sweepstakes for a chance to win a $100,000 bonus bet on launch day.
No promo codes are necessary for the DraftKings pre-launch offer. After signing up for an account, the $200 in bonus bets will be waiting for you on Jan. 1. The $200 is issued as eight $25 bonus bets that must be placed within seven days after being awarded.
DraftKings name recognition high in Ohio
In a recent PlayOhio survey, DraftKings’ name recognition was well ahead of its competitors in the marketplace. Of the 620 current Ohio sports bettors surveyed, 36.8% cited DraftKings when asked to name three legal U.S. sportsbooks. The next closest brand named was FanDuel at 27.1%.
When asked which sportsbooks they’d use in Ohio once sports betting goes live, 58.4% of respondents said they’d use DraftKings, ahead of FanDuel (52.3%), BetMGM (36.3%) and Caesars (28.6%).
Meanwhile, 24.5% of those surveyed said they already use DraftKings, compared to 17.1% who said they use FanDuel.
DraftKings among five latest Ohio online sportsbooks receiving licensing
DraftKings received license approval at the OCCC’s Nov. 2 meeting along with four other operators. The OCCC also approved three Ohio retail sportsbooks for licensing: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati, Miami Valley Gaming and Hall of Fame Village
The other online sportsbooks approved at the Nov. 2 meeting were:

- Hard Rock
- Tipico
The OCCC has now granted licenses to 12 online sportsbooks. The five operators approved Nov. 2 join the following previously approved sportsbooks.
- Barstool
- bet365
- Betfred
- Caesars
- FanDuel
- PointsBet
- Superbook
