PlayUp might be one of the newer mobile sportsbooks to enter the U.S. market, but the company hops to compete with major operators like DraftKings and FanDuel sooner than later.
Formed in 2007, PlayUp is licensed to operate in more than 25 U.S. states and New Zealand and India. With Ohio sports betting set to begin on Jan. 1, 2023, PlayUp Ohio Sportsbook is one of 25 sportsbook apps that have applied for an operator license with the Ohio Casino Control Commission.
PlayUp Ohio offers a generous welcome bonus code
In other markets, new customer have been enticed by a generous welcome bonus that includes a 100% first deposit bonus worth up to $1,000 with the PlayUp Sportsbook promo code PLAYUP1000.
Those who claim this offer and put down a $100 deposit are entitled to an additional $100 in bonus money. To claim the first deposit bonus, new customers will have to follow three steps:
- Sign up for a PlayUp account
- Visit the cashier’s page
- Make a first deposit of at least $50 with the PlayUp bonus code: PLAYUP1000
Once this offer is claimed, customers must roll over their bonus and first deposit at least twice before withdrawing.
PlayUp Sportsbook offers other unique promotions
New and existing customers can expect to see regular promotions often tailored to the sports of the season. That’s why, for instance, college basketball offers will be run during March Madness and football specials every NFL season.
PlayUp promos usually take on standard formats such as parlay boosts, close loss refunds and the occasional reload bonus.
Here are a few examples of past PlayUp betting promotions:
- Reload Mondays – Customers who deposit with the promo code MONDAY25 on Mondays get an extra 25% for up to $100 in bonus funds. However, the offer requires a 3x rollover on the deposit and bonus money.
- Bad Beat Tuesdays – Place a 5-plus leg parlay on a Tuesday, and if it loses by one leg, PlayUp will refund it with a bonus bet worth up to $20.
- Bad (Buzzer) Beater – During last year’s March Madness, PlayUp refunded pregame moneylines for teams that lost the lead with less than one second remaining. The refunds were issued as bonus bets worth up to $20.
- Parlay Boosts – PlayUp upgrades all parlay payouts by up to 25% according to the number of legs in each parlay. This gives some customers up to $500 in extra winnings.
PlayUp’s app is user-friendly
In terms of app design, PlayUp decided to distinguish itself from other mobile sports apps. With a black background, white text and lime green styling, the PayUp sports betting app is an instant eye-catcher.
This unique color scheme also makes it easy to orient oneself fairly quickly.
Odds are posted in white text against a black and green interface, making it easy to view lines, compare the odds across multiple games and navigate from place to place.
Its functionality, however, appears rather ordinary. Bettors can log in to view odds for trending games on the homepage and simply navigate through menus to browse leagues, current promotions and in-play betting events.
All in all, the app does a good job aside from two minor drawbacks. The first hitch is that the touch input zones are a bit small, which can make navigation difficult at times. The other issue is the app’s slow loading time when moving from one page to another.
But barring these two problems, the PlayUp mobile app works just fine.
PlayUp Sportsbook has native mobile betting apps for both Android and iOS devices. Naturally, customers can also access PlayUp.com on any desktop to sign up for an account to get started.
PlayUp really shines with its esports offerings
PlayUp offers both pregame and in-play betting for professional sports, college games, international events and esports. Each game’s market depth is comparable to other major sportsbooks, involving 200-plus bets per game for mainstream sports.
Betting options consist of a typical range of markets such as:
- Full-game results
- Part-time results
- Alternate lines
- Winning margins
- Other game props
- Individual player props
- Miscellaneous wagers
These are all pretty much standard options offered by most large online sportsbooks, but where PlayUp shines is in its esports offerings.
PlayUp clearly dedicates more time and attention to esports betting, with pregame and in-play markets for CS: GO, League of Legends, Dota 2, Call of Duty and Fortnite.
JACK Cleveland Casino partners up with PlayUp
Earlier this year, PlayUp signed a deal with JACK Cleveland Casino, listing the Cleveland-based gaming company as its proprietor partner in Ohio.
By entering Ohio’s sports betting market through JACK Cleveland, PlayUp will be able to offer its mobile sports betting across the state.
The Ohio Casino Control Commission is currently processing applications for both retail and online sportsbooks.
Also expected soon, the OCCC will likely release a wagering catalog of sports that have been approved for Ohio sports betting.
Ohio customers don’t have to stick with just one sportsbook
As with all mobile sports betting apps in the U.S., PlayUp customers have to be at least 21.
Bettors in the Buckeye State can expect to see the following features offered by PlayUp Interactive:
- Deposit funds with credit/debit card, bank transfer, PayPal or other methods
- Lots of Ohio promos and bonuses for new customers
- Parlay bets, live betting, betting on pro and college sports teams in Ohio
- Withdraw money easily, safely and with no hassles
There is no limit to the number of sportsbooks a user can sign up for in Ohio. That will allow customers to take advantage of any promotions and sign up bonuses they choose.
In related news, PlayUp Interactive is teaming up with IG Acquisition Corp. to become a publicly traded partner. The deal, which is expected to close in early 2023, will boost PlayUp’s market value to $350 million.
