PENN Entertainment, which operates four casino properties in Ohio along with the Barstool Sportsbook app, launched a new loyalty and rewards program this week. The new program, PENN Play, brings the company’s various brands under one loyalty program. The company will retire its mychoice program.
PENN Entertainment has a big presence in Ohio, and that has grown since Ohio sports betting launched. All four Hollywood-branded Ohio casino properties house retail sportsbooks, and the Barstool Sportsbook app is available across the state.
PENN aligning loyalty program across Ohio casino properties
PENN customers can now earn and redeem “PENN Cash” when gaming, dining, shopping or staying at PENN’s hotel locations. Customers can also earn online by using any of PENN’s apps.
In a press release, PENN CEO and president Jay Snowden explained the need for the change:
“PENN’s business has transformed over the last few years as we’ve expanded our retail, online gaming and entertainment experiences. With the rebranding of our loyalty program to PENN Play, we are taking steps to better align all of our brands under the PENN umbrella and create a more seamless omni-channel experience for our customers, which we believe will have a meaningful impact on both our retail and online gaming performance.”
The new program will benefit customers at PENN’s Ohio casinos and racinos. The four PENN-owned properties in Ohio are:
- Hollywood Casino Columbus
- Hollywood Casino Toledo
- Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway
- Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course
In addition to the Hollywood Casino brand, PENN operates L’Auberge and M Resort hotels, HollywoodCasino.com and PENNPlaycasino.com.
Promotions surrounding PENN Play app and PENN Wallet
The new loyalty program features a standalone app of the same name, PENN Play. Within the app, the PENN Wallet acts as your contactless payment method at casino locations (and online, where online casinos are available).
New users get $10 PENN Cash for signing up and up to $50 in PENN Cash for setting up the PENN Wallet.

Like other loyalty programs, PENN Play offers various membership levels. Each tier offers more benefits and rewards. New users start at the Play tier, and can move up to Advantage, Preferred, Elite and finally Owners Club.
PENN Play offers new rewards
Members can use their PENN Cash at places other than PENN properties. For example, the PENN Play app features a marketplace that allows members to shop from popular retailers for everyday items. Other partnerships include deals with Live Nation and Choice Hotels.
The Barstool Sportsbook and casino apps will be updated to incorporate the new rewards program later this summer, the press release says.
Last year, PENN announced that a new hotel is coming to Hollywood Casino in Columbus. Construction for the $100 million project is slated to begin later this year. The hotel will include 180 rooms and new food and beverage options.
