BetMGM poised to be an Ohio mainstay

BetMGM holds a significant stake in the Ohio sports betting market. The company was one of the first to apply for a sports betting license in Ohio earlier this year and currently holds licenses to operate two retail sportsbooks: MGM Northfield Park and Great American Ball Park.

BetMGM is also listed as a retail partner on a license application for the Cedar Downs off-track betting parlor, which has not yet received approval.

BetMGM’s partnership with the Cincinnati Reds includes plans to open a retail sportsbook inside Great American Ball Park. The BetMGM Sportsbook will open inside the space currently housing the Machine Room restaurant on the northeast side of the stadium.

The sportsbook will not be accessible from ticketed areas of the stadium but will offer views of games in action. The space will be open year-round.

Reds CFO Doug Healy said in a press release:

“With sports gaming coming to Ohio, the Reds sought to bring the highest quality operator to our ballpark for those fans who choose to participate in sports gaming.”

BetMGM is a well-known national brand

BetMGM launched its first online sportsbook app in New Jersey in 2019 and now operates retail sportsbooks, horse racing and online sportsbooks in 23 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and Ontario Canada.

Bettors can currently place sports bets using the BetMGM app in New York, New Jersey, West Virginia, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Colorado, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Virginia, Wyoming, Arizona, and Louisiana.
