BetPARX Sportsbook has launched its online sports betting app in Ohio.
BetPARX is the sports betting sponsor of the Memorial Tournament, a PGA Tour event held each year at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, near Columbus. The Memorial Tournament returns this year the week of May 29.
Ohio sports betting has been up and running since Jan. 1. BetPARX is the 17th sportsbook app to hit the market, with more on the way.
Ohio is fourth state to launch betPARX online sportsbook
BetPARX Sportsbook Ohio was named an official betting operator of the PGA Tour last spring, giving the online sportsbook the rights to use PGA marks and video highlights on its platform.
In a press release, betPARX’s senior vice president of sports, Matthew Cullen, said of the launch:
“BetPARX is thrilled to announce its mobile sports betting debut in Ohio. betPARX is one of the leaders in mobile betting and iGaming in North America and leverages superb technology, products and best Ohio marketing promotions. We are excited to partner with the PGA TOUR and the Memorial Tournament to offer a fast, easy and fun experience for sports fans.”
BetPARX is a subsidiary of Pennsylvania-based Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment, which also owns and operates the Parx Casino and Parx Racing properties in the Keystone State.
Along with Ohio, betPARX Sportsbook’s mobile sports betting app is available to users in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Michigan. Though licensed to operate in Maryland, betPARX online sportsbook has yet to launch in the state.
Fanatics interest in buying betPARX
In January, reports surfaced that Fanatics was exploring the possibility of purchasing betPARX Sportsbook from Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment. The two sides are reportedly discussing the sale, with Fanatics signing a letter of intent to purchase betPARX.
Fanatics was approved to launch a sportsbook app in Ohio in November but has yet to debut an online sports betting product in any market.
Fanatics is partnered with the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets for retail and online sports betting. Fanatics is also partnered with the Cleveland Guardians for a retail sportsbook.
BetPARX awarding new Ohio users $125 in bonus bets
Ohioans can use the betPARX Sportsbook app to bet on an array of sports, including (of course) golf, as well as basketball, football, baseball, hockey, MMA, international soccer, motorsports and tennis.
BetPARX is among the many Ohio sportsbooks offering sign-up bonuses and promotions. BetPARX’s welcome offer is $125 in bonus bets for new users who bet at least $10 (and win). The bonus bets are awarded in five $25 weekly increments after the user wins that first bet.
Ohio betPARX Sportsbook users will also be registered for a chance to win up to $6,500 in bonus bets. The winner of the “5 Years of Bonus Bets” contest — to be chosen in April — will receive a $25 bonus bet every week for five years.
Muirfield Village Golf Club has not released retail sportsbook plans
In September of last year, Muirfield Village Golf Club, which has hosted the Jack Nicklaus-founded Memorial Tournament since 1976, was among the first batch of businesses approved for a retail sportsbook license by the Ohio Casino Control Commission.
Muirfield Village Golf Club is betPARX Sportsbook’s market access partner, allowing betPARX to operate its Ohio online sportsbook statewide.
But Muirfield Village Golf Club has yet to name a partner for the retail sportsbook for which it is licensed.
Dan Sullivan, executive director of the Memorial Tournament, told PlayOhio there are no plans to establish a retail sportsbook on Muirfield Village Golf Club property.
Sullivan says the golf club has yet to determine a sportsbook partner or a location for the potential retail sportsbook.
“We are working through a RFP process at this time and will determine a going forward plan in the future,” Sullivan tells PlayOhio. “We do not have an established timeline currently.”
BetPARX is latest Ohio online sportsbook entry
With its recent entry into the marketplace, betPARX Sportsbook becomes the 17th online sportsbook to launch in Ohio since sports betting went live across the state on Jan. 1.
That list of online sportsbooks available to bettors in Ohio could grow bigger soon. WynnBet Sportsbook was approved by the Ohio Casino Commission Control for an online sportsbook license on Jan 18.
