The Problem Gambling Network of Ohio kickstarted a new project this month aimed at increasing responsible gambling awareness in casinos throughout the state. Most recently, JACK Cleveland and JACK Thistledown hosted tours of their facilities for problem gambling treatment providers this Wednesday.
Ohio casinos give RG tours to problem gambling experts & the public
To celebrate Problem Gambling Awareness Month and help align the industry’s responsible gambling goals, Ohio casino property tours are open to all problem gambling experts, as well as the general public. The PGNO invites anyone to register for these tours, which run for approximately 90 minutes — 45 minutes for the tour itself, and the remaining 45 minutes for Q&A.
The tours began this past Monday, with 11 total taking place throughout the month — one at each of the state’s casinos.
Anyone can sign up for an Ohio casino property tour
To sign up for an Ohio Casino tour and learn more about responsible gambling initiatives on each property, head to the Problem Gambling Network Of Ohio website. Tours are available for the following properties during the listed dates and times:
- Hollywood Casino Columbus: March 18 – 10 a.m.
- Eldorado Gaming Scioto Downs: March 18 – 1 p.m.
- Hollywood Casino Toledo: March 19 – 10 a.m.
- Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway: March 20 – 10 a.m.
- Miami Valley Gaming: March 20 – 1 p.m.
- Belterra Park Cincinnati: March 25 – 10 a.m.
- Hard Rock Cincinnati Casino: March 25 – 1 p.m.
The PNGO says:
“Conducted in March to align with Problem Gambling Awareness Month, the purpose of these tours is to establish relationships with each venue and collaborate on responsible gambling practices. Property Tours are open for anyone to attend at no cost; however, space is limited!”
While these tours are educational in nature, they take place throughout various parts of the casino gaming floor. Thus, visitors must be 21 or older to participate. The PNGO also advises that portions of the tour could be potentially triggering for those in recovery from problem gambling.
Other responsible gambling programs in Ohio
These property tours mark the PNGO’s most recent effort to promote responsible gambling in the state. The PNGO has various programs and resources in place to assist problem gamblers and raise awareness.
Its Ohio Gambling Telehealth Network, for instance, connects problem gamblers and recovering individuals with treatment providers. The program is helpful for all Ohioans and particularly aims to give treatment to those who may not have access to a local provider or facility.
Additionally, the Stages Training Series is a three-part program that educates treatment providers on gambling support and community outreach. The three classes are:
- Gambling, Problem Gambling, and Ohio’s Service System
- Applications and Approaches in Treating Gambling Disorder
- Introduction to the Roles of Family and Finances in Treating Gambling Disorder
