Golden Nugget Online Gaming and Boom Entertainment have entered into a partnership to provide players across the US and Canada with new gaming content.

Boom, which creates and operates online gaming content such as the NBC Sports Predictor, will give Golden Nugget access to its gaming products and servers. It has also committed to creating custom games for Golden Nugget in the future.

With rights already established in the state, Boom will give Golden Nugget access to the Ohio market. In return, Golden Nugget became a minority investor in Boom during the company’s most recent round of financing.

Golden Nugget, Boom stand to win with this partnership

The partnership has both entities excited about future possibilities. Golden Nugget Online Gaming President Thomas Winter explained that this partnership will help the company get ahead in a competitive online gaming market:

“We are thrilled to enter this long-term relationship with Boom. Boom’s team has an impressive track record in the gaming industry, and we believe this partnership will help GNOG continue to differentiate itself in the market with a premier, unrivaled gaming product.”

On Boom’s side of things, the company gains another investor and — yet another — strong partner to showcase their gaming content. Golden Nugget joins companies such as NBC Sports, Penn National Gaming, and NASCAR. Boom’s CEO Stephen A. Murphy echoed Winter’s enthusiasm for the deal, stating:

“We are excited to work with an incredible operator in Golden Nugget. Boom’s mission is to fuel the biggest winners in sports betting and casino gaming, whether they are operators, leagues, retail establishments, or media companies. We are excited to add our mark to Golden Nugget’s award-winning product.”

While this partnership will operate on a large scale across two countries, Golden Nugget’s Ohio access is a critical point.  There may be more to come next year for Ohioans should the state legalize sports betting.

How will this partnership affect Ohio players?

It is not immediately obvious how Ohio players will benefit from this partnership. After all, both online gaming and online sports betting are currently illegal in the state. However, there will still be ways in which players can play both now and in the future.

While most forms of online gambling are illegal in the state, sweepstakes casinos are legal. Players are not required to pay to play, which is what permits legal play of sweepstakes games in Ohio.

Though it is unknown exactly what games Boom can bring to Ohio on the Golden Nugget platform, the company already offers free-to-play games. They could tap into the sweepstakes casino space to engage with Ohio players as well.

As Ohioans await news on the front of sports betting’s potential legality within the state, Boom and Golden Nugget also await the ability to give Ohio players the full experience that this partnership can offer.

Boom attracts over 3 million players for its sports-related services in the U.S. Being able to offer its predictor games through entities like NBC Sports and NASCAR to Ohio players in the future could make it a key player in the sports gaming space in the state.

Current restrictions may slow the impact this partnership has in Ohio. However, it will likely thrust Golden Nugget Online Gaming onto the scene as a premier operator in the sports gaming space. With Boom’s ever-growing online gaming capabilities, the sky is the limit.
