Does PointsBet offer odds boosts or early cash out betting?

PointsBet offers both boosted odds bets and early cash out. In fact, PointsBet offers Partial Cash Out which allows you to settle part of your wager, while keeping some of the bet still going.

Partial Cash Out is pretty awesome because you can save some of your stake from a wager that is losing or collect a portion of a bet that is winning or anything in between. Just select the cash out feature and then use the slider bar to decide how much you’d like to cash out and how much of the bet you want to keep in action.

As for boosted bets, simply select Booster Odds from the menu and all the available bets with increased odds will be shown. In addition to having daily booster odds, PointsBet also offers weekly golf boosts from golf social media star Paige Spiranac.

Honestly, as one of our favorite sportsbooks in Ohio there are a plethora of reasons to pick PointsBet Sportsbook. For brevity’s sake, here are the three biggest reasons.

• Absolute abundance of betting markets: Gone are the days of having three betting options for games (moneyline, spread and over/under). Now at PointsBet you literally have hundreds and hundreds of bets to choose from for a single game. PointsBet allows you to pick your own spreads and totals. You also can submit a bet to PointsBet via PointsBet’s Twitter account (@PointsBetUSA) and most of the time they’ll add it to the app/website. And when you add in all the PointsBetting options, there’s simply too many betting options to count.
• Rewards club: Oh, and did we mention that PointsBet has a rewards club too? That’s right, for every bet you make you’ll earn rewards points, which never expire. For every $5 you wager on fixed odds bets you’ll get a point. For every $1 you bet on parlays you get a point and also, for every $1 you win or lose with PointsBetting you get a point. Earn 100 rewards points and you’ll get a $1 bet.

Things we’d change about the PointsBet app

While we clearly are big PointsBet fans, we also understand that it’s not exactly everyone’s cup of tea. In fact, here’s three things even we don’t necessarily love about PointsBet.

• Chance for colossal losses: With fixed odds betting, which is almost exclusively what other sportsbooks offer, you always know exactly what you’ll win if your bet hits and what you’ll lose if it misses. However, with some PointsBetting markets, you can make a $1 bet and win or lose up to $2,000. You do always know the most you can win or lose with PointsBetting, but still the potential for such huge swings is going to be a major drawback for some.
• Some poor prop betting odds: Most of the time the online sports betting odds at PointsBet are quite good, but when it comes to prop bets we’ve seen some less than ideal numbers from time to time. The biggest discrepancy is usually for home run markets when compared to the numbers at DraftKings and FanDuel. So, if you really like betting on home run hitters, PointsBet might not be your best choice at this time.
• Having to opt-in to promos again and again: One of the things we really used to love about PointsBet was not having to opt-in to promotions. So we definitely didn’t like it when PointsBet added the opt-in. Making matters even worse is the fact that you have to opt-in to the same promotions over and over again. We’re really hoping these issues get addressed in the future.

How does PointsBetting work?

PointsBetting allows you to profit based on precisely how accurate your bets are. That’s because PointsBetting takes your wager and multiplies by the number of units right or wrong your bet is. Let’s look at an example to illustrate this point.

The Cincinnati Bengals are playing the Cleveland Browns and the over/under is listed at 55. You’re convinced it’s going to be a low-scoring affair. At another sportsbook, the odds would probably be -110, so you’d need to bet $110 on the under to win $100. But at PointsBet, you just bet $10 on the under. Then when the final ends up being 21-14, you end up winning $200!

That’s because the combined score ended up being 20 points (or units) under the over/under total. So your $10 bet is multiplied by the units right or wrong you are, so $10 x 20 = 200. Keep in mind though, had your logic been wrong and the final ended up being 35-33, your $10 bet would have ended up costing you $180.

What kinds of PointsBetting markets are there?

There is pretty much every type of PointsBetting market you can imagine and even some you probably never even dreamed of.

Of course there are markets for traditional bets like spread and over/under. But you’ll also find ones for the exact timing of events in games such as the first basket or first goal to be scored. Additionally, there are multiplier markets where two stats are multiplied by one another. These can be especially lucrative if you bet the under and a player ends up with a zero in one category.

Stop-loss option

The biggest thing to always check when it comes to PointBetting is the max win and max loss levels. Since sometimes the levels are 2,000 times your bet amount, you can end up winning or losing some serious dough.

That also is where the stop-loss adjustor comes in. For certain PointsBetting wagers there is a slider bar that limits both your potential wins and losses. This is a great thing to take advantage of when you want to place a certain bet with plenty of upside, but also want to limit potential loss if your prediction doesn’t pan out.

Other bet types at PointsBet

While PointsBetting is wholly unique to PointsBet Sportsbook, you will find all the typical sports bets available as well. That means you can place moneyline bets, spread bets and over/under wagers. PointsBet also has an abundance of prop and futures betting markets. Multi-betting also is an option thanks to the ability to create your own parlays, single-game parlays and round robins.

This is a rundown of how games are listed at PointsBet and how all the bets we just mentioned work.

Moneylines, spreads and over/unders

These are the three most common bets you will find at PointsBet and they all have to do with a game’s final score. Moneylines are simply for which team is going to win. Spreads are for how much a team wins or loses by and over/unders (listed as the total) are for how many total runs or goals or points are recorded by both teams.

In this instance, the Reds are slight favorites. We can decipher this using the money line. Cincinnati’s -133 moneyline just means you must bet $133 to win back $100. As the underdog, Cleveland’s moneyline of +133 tells you that a $100 wager will win you back $122.

For the spread, the Reds will have 1.5 runs removed from their total if you wager on them. The Indians will have 1.5 runs added to their score if you wager on them. Thus, Cincinnati covers the spread by winning by at least two runs, while Cleveland can cover by winning or only losing by a single run.

The over/under is even easier to grasp. Over bets win on the condition that nine runs or more are scored and under bets win if eight runs are less are tallied in this example.

Pop quiz, which bets will win if the Reds beat the Indians 5-4? And the answer is: Moneyline bets on Cincinnati, spread bets on Cleveland, and over bets.

Prop betting at PointsBet

By clicking on a contest you can view all the wagers you can make on it. This is where you’ll find prop bets at PointsBet. Props are wagers on specific player stats or other outcomes during game.

Here are some examples of props for a Reds-Indians game: Betting on a player to hit a homerun, get a hit, drive in a run or steal a base. Wagering on one of the starting pitchers to get the win. And an example of a PointsBetting prop bet: Runs x hits x errors multiplier. You take the total runs, hits and errors for both teams and multiply them by one another.

PointsBet’s futures markets

Futures wagers are when you place bets on teams to win the championship, players to win MVP awards and other long-term outcomes. PointsBet has tons of futures markets, but the biggest offerings are for NFL futures odds.

Parlays and combo parlays

A parlay is a sports bet in which you choose at least two bets and to win your parlay, all the bets you selected need to be accurate. As you might expect, the more bets you add to your parlay the harder it will be to win. The upside is that your possible winnings go higher and higher with each successive selection.

Round robins can be found under the combo parlay heading at PointsBet. These require making a minimum of three bets and are fundamentally smaller parlay groupings. For instance, if you choose three bets, you can make a two-team round robin, which just creates three two-team parlays. That way you still win some money if two of your three picks are right.

Live betting at PointsBet

Clicking the Live header under the main menu will bring up all the in-play betting choices at that time. With live betting, you can bet in real time as games unfold. It also means you don’t have to miss out on the wagering action if you failed to get a bet in before first pitch or kickoff.

One of the really cool things about live betting at PointsBet is that by clicking on the Betting Stats button you can see up-to-date betting information for the game. You can see what portion of funds have been bet on each team, the amount of bets placed on each team and win probability uses analytics to show you each team’s current chances of winning.

Betting on the Cleveland Cavaliers at PointsBet

PointsBet has NBA betting odds for all Cavs games, just as for all NBA regular and postseason contests. Chances are you’re probably not aware of all the PointsBetting markets available for NBA games, so let’s take a look at some of our favorites and briefly explain how they work.
